The beauty of a relationship with God
Songs of Solomon 1:2-4
Bring me into an intimate relationship with you, let our love experience be forever, again and again, for your love is better than the pleasures of this world. When you are near me, I'm on fire again. The sense of your presence is lovely and how much it stirs deep within me to hear your name. No wonder the earth and its inhabitants praise your name. No wonder those whose hearts are open love you. You have brought me into your private chambers. You have made known yourself to me. You have made me one with you.
(interpreted version)
Intimacy with God, the relationship between man and God is build on love. It is a daily process, not a an instant thing. The two main characteristics of God is God in his transendence and glory, the King of kings... and God down to earth, real and personal. A friend, a lover. "Worship comes in seeing you... our hearts respond to Your revelation" (quote, Matt Redman). And so, worship is develop through a relationship with God.
On the personal side, i have been going through this phase of questioning the reality and deepness of my relationship with God. It has felt shalow at times. The only time I seem to talk to God is when I need something, I want something, I did something wrong, I'm praying for someone, I'm asking for help, I'm depressed and need to cry it out to God. But where is the 'I want to know you more, God'? Or do I get to know God by only asking and telling. God isn't my servant. I am God's servant... it's suppose to be 'God, what do you want me to do'. Not 'God, now do this... or please to this and that'. I believe that in a relationship with God, we move from God is mine, to I am God's and God is mine, to I AM GOD's, and what he wants for me is the best, for God is love and he loves me.
I am now beggining to see the relevance of worship in life. Beggining to see the reason we sing 'Draw me close to you' and 'I want to know you more'. The very root of our relationship with God is the love that God had for us first, when he sent Jesus to die for us, to die for our sins, SO WE CAN HAVE A WONDERFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. So, we can be on fire again...
